This is a good lesson on second line drumming. One other tip I would add here would simply be to make sure to use a simple rlrl sticking for the 8th notes with this pattern. It’s actually easier to learn to improvise over a bass and hi-hat pattern like this if you keep your sticking consistent. Left hand players should just reverse the sticking to lrlr.
